1st Thes.  5:18

In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Alan Perkins says, “A thankful spirit is one of the key distinguishing marks

of a Christian.  It sets us apart from the world,  it makes us different.”

Psalm 118:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,  His love endures forever.”

Thanksgiving increases your personal happiness

In other words gratitude flourishes in the sphere of grace. And that is why the play on words in 2nd cor 4:15 is significant.  Grace is charis and gratitude is eucharistian because gratitude is response to Grace.  Gratitude is feeling of happiness you feel toward somebody who has shown you some understanding kindness , i.e. somebody gracious to you.

Thanksgiving attracts people to Christ.

Hebrews 10; 24 and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.

When you are thankful it is contagious it will catch on and others will be blessed and turn to count their own blessings.

Thanksgiving strengthens our relationship with God

Mathew 6:21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Where I put my money my time my efforts my thinking my life that’s where my heart will be.  Where do I want my heart? if I want to be more like God then I also want to be closer to God when I give out of a heart of love and compassion I will find that am also next to Gods heart.
