Jehovah Jireh means the lord who provides. It was the name given by Abraham at the scene of offering up the ram that was caught in the thicket on mount Moriah. The expression used in Genesis 22; 14 “ IN THE MOUNT OF THE LORD IT SHALL BE SEEN” has been regarded as the equivalent to WALKING BY FAITH.
When God introduces himself as God who provides, it’s not in the context of just the short time perishables.. It’s even in life’s dire circumstances. Isaac was an only miracle son that Abraham and Sarah had when they were very old. He was the son of a divine promise to make Abrahams line into a great nation. He was Gods provision to this couple or so it seemed until God said to lay him into the altar and offer him as a sacrifice.
Abraham obeyed. Hebrews 11 tells us he acted in faith that God would raise Isaac. He obeyed in belief that God would provide a miracle of some kind and the promises of God would still stand in his life. God was faithful and he miraculously provided a ram that was caught in the thicket
Lessons to draw from Abrahams experience at Mt Moriah.
The first principle of Jehovah Jireh is to understand that God himself is our provider. This isn’t just a mind game we play, it’s the simple TRUTH. Until we really believe Jehovah Jireh, we will not be able to move forward in faith and obedience
Gods provision goes beyond the provision of our daily needs that in Mathew 6 Jesus tells his disciples, “do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will wear…..” for God cares about our every small details. He provides as a father ought to.
God is our rescue from sin. God provided his own son as an atonement for a sinful world. John 3: 16” For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ” Jesus is God’s perfect and complete provision. The answer to every person’s deepest questions and the fulfilment of their every need.
God is your provider; His grace is sufficient for you in every way
